Hilde Kate Lysiak, now 11, founded the Orange Street News at age 8. The paper, which began as a handwritten digest for family in her Selinsgrove, Pa., hometown, hit the national news in 2016 when Hilde broke a story on a local homicide ahead of other news outlets. Profiles of Hilde in the Columbia Journalism Review, The New York Times and other publications led to a book deal with Scholastic for a series of six Hilde Cracks the Case mysteries (four are already out).

Her paper has some 700-plus paid subscribers ($19.99 per year, anywhere in the U.S.) and thousands more read it online. She lives with her parents, Matt and Bridget, and sisters, Izzy, Georgia and Juliet.
